MTHR TRSA at last week’s Garden Pics by ADAM
Hello Deviants!!!!
Welcome to The Deviant Dispatch. I’m Mo, your guide to the underground world of Brooklyn and beyond. On Wednesday I write about events for free. On Friday I write about gossip for money (paying members only). I collect tips from people who email me @ thedeviantdispatch@gmail.com and from my trusted sources I’ve built over the years being a Bushwick-based nightlife barnacle. If you want a better plan than walking around Brooklyn at 1am hoping someone will usher you into a packed garage, you’re in the right place.
Before we get to this week’s events I have an apology for you. I totally spaced and forgot to include MTHR TRSA’s party Garden Pics. The drag show was outside, and featured the scrappy and artsy performers Soo Into It, Cuntyham, Sammy and others. The party took place in a garden yet you could still see train tracks over the performer’s heads, and the whole thing was a fundraiser to get women and femmes tasers to defend themselves from creeps! I promise I’ll try and do better, but since we didn’t get to go to this party you can at least look at the pictures Adam took, and follow MTHR TRSA so you don’t miss anymore shenanigans.
And speaking of shenanigans, here’s shit that’s happening this week!
XOXOXO
Mo
Cat Cohen’s Cabernet Caberet
When: Wednesday 8pm EST, re upload Thursday 8pm
Where: clubcummingnyc.com
What: one of my fave BK comedians and burlesque singers is back with her formerly weekly show. Idk about you but I’ve never need the escape of a bell laugh more, and Cat always delivers. Since I’m a not well versed in comedy idk any of her guests, but I know that Cat’s banter is strong enough to save even the most awkward comedy bro (not that she’d book such a creature).
How much: $15
Supermodels
When: Thursday 8-11ish
Where: 3 Dollar Bill (DM a queen to RSVP)
What: This week’s supermodels cast is a lil more bare bones than the past. Neon Calypso is hosting solo this week, but the special guest The Dragon Sisters have enough wattage to light up the back patio all on their own. The duo first came to my attention at the first mini Bushwig of the summer. In matching corsets, butt-length hair, and camo jackets, the duo worked the crowd with a Beyonce number.
It might sound like an ordinary drag performance, but this sisters insistence on tight synchronization, as well as their genderfuck look of femme hair on muscle bodies made everyone perk up. You can tell they take time to craft their performances and come with a more political mindset then your average dancing queen. It’ll be exciting to see what they do with a full performance and stage setup.
How much: $15
DEHD live on Audiotree
When: Thursday 9pm EST
Where: https://audiotree.tv/staged-show/dehd
What: DEHD is a slacker indie punk band that is everywhere right now, currently on the cover the post-punk 2k Ppotify playlist and the playlist of every loser smoking weed on a mattress minus a bed frame. Tune in to see if they hack it live, or as much “live” as a livestream is.
How much: $12
PURE ADULT live on Baby.tv
When: Friday 8-9pm EST
Where: a secret livestream location you learn by getting a ticket
What: Looking for some music that captures the FRUSTRATION and DISSONANCE of our times? Brooklyn-based band Pure Adult have you, mixing classic Sonic Youth noise punk with some peaceful psychedelic sweeps (before the guitars kick in). Def music for the dystopia and people who think wearing all black means they have a sense of style. Tune in to soundtrack your spiral.
How much: $5
Chinga La Migra Art Pop-Up
When: Sunday, 6-11pm
Where: Happyfun Hideaway
What: Head to our favorite messy Bushwick bar Happyfun Hideaway to grab some line-heavy art that references protest posters, as DJ Sayboy plays #perreo. Go sip on a triple tequila guava as you contemplate the long winter we’re all in for, or just live in denial! Summer 5ever!
How much: free but drinks are like 6-12
