Go To These Bars While You Have a Chance
As A Second Covid 19 Shutdown Looms Closer, Take Advantage While You Can

Hello Biden Voters,
Welcome to The Deviant Dispatch. I’m Mo, your guide to the underground world of Brooklyn and beyond. On Wednesday I write about events for free. On Friday I write about gossip for money (paying members only).
Since my last newsletter Biden has been officially proclaimed the winner of the election by the lamestream news media. If you haven’t celebrated already, take a moment to dance around your bedroom ( I suggest these songs). The NYC area wasted no time getting absolutely hammered rowdy in the streets. A friend going to Washington Sqaure park that night said it looked like a music festival, and Mccarren Park also did it’s best Coachella impression. By the time I got out of work at 8pm, many friends were too wiped out to keep partying!
Hopefully all those large spirited gatherings don’t bite us in the ass. New York is inching towards lockdown again, with Mayor Cuomo announcing that starting this Friday bars and restaurants will have to close at 10pm. This harsh rule comes as the city’s rates flirt with rising above 3%.
While I appreciate the measures to try and get people off the streets and avoiding congregating, I’m worried about what an additional hour of lost businesses will mean. Plus as Covid-19 doesn’t have a bedtime, shutting down an hour earlier doesn’t seem like a good way to slow the spread. It all seems to amount to the city trying to seem like they’re doing something. They know a full shutdown of nonessential businesses and making bars do to-go only means that those businesses will just close permanently.
With that in mind, here are some new bars you should frequent in the coming days. Maybe just take your drinks to-go to be on the safe side. It’s been a tough year to open a business so show these cuties some support!
All Night Skate
This new spot in by the Chauncey J stop in Brooklyn is filled with neon lights and plenty of touches to pull on nostalgic heartstrings. There’s fried chicken sandwiches for eating and a good mix of hipster brats and longtime locals from the neighborhood.
Farewell
A new bar in the heart of Bushwick with the best decor I’ve seen in a min. There’s a backyard and a front yard and delicious crepes. Plus you’ll never know when a gaggle of drag queens will stop by for some impromptu shows.
Heaven Or Las Vegas
This bar is like Mood Ring’s chill little sister, but has emerged as a popular spot among the y2k-loving raver set. There’s limited seating inside for now so you can take in the 5th Element-eque vibes.
Of course, you can always check out old faithfuls like Happyfun Hideaway, the aforementioned Mood Ring, or your local watering hole. Support these bars!
And now for your weekly event roundup.
Stay safe out there!
xoxo
